Derwent Valley - Australia

In Stock 1

This patch represents the old Derwent Valley Scout District. The cloth patch recalls an era when there were sufficient numbers of cub packs and scout troops between New Norfolk and Tarraleah to justify having our own administrative region.

The emblem was a shield featuring the international scouting logo, mountain ranges, hop kilns, hydro-electricity infrastructure, poplar trees - and something vaguely agricultural-looking in the bottom-left quadrant.

The Derwent Valley Scout District is thought to have existed from the late 1960s to the early 1980s, at which time the local groups were reincorporated into the Glenorchy district. The scout movement is still very active in New Norfolk
